HOW TO / 082

Calculate work hours from clock-in and clock-out times.

Enter a start time, end time, and any unpaid break for each day. The calculator subtracts the break from the shift and shows both hours:minutes and decimal hours.

For example, working 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch is 7:30 of paid time, which equals 7.50 decimal hours. Decimal time is a base-10 number, so 7 hours 30 minutes is 7.50 — not 7.30.

OVERTIME / WEEKLY

Weekly and biweekly overtime totals.

The default setup separates hours above 40 in each 7-day workweek and applies a 1.5× overtime multiplier when an hourly rate is supplied. In biweekly mode, Week 1 and Week 2 are calculated independently rather than pooling the period into an 80-hour threshold.

Need a simpler pay-only calculation? Try the Overtime Pay Calculator. To convert annual salary and hourly pay, use the Salary to Hourly Calculator. For estimated take-home pay after taxes, use the Paycheck Calculator. Employers estimating the broader cost of wages, payroll taxes, and benefits can use the Payroll Cost Calculator, while workers comparing a new wage can use the Pay Raise Calculator.
