DNS Lookup & Diagnostics
Look up public A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, SRV, CAA, and PTR records with TTLs, provider hints, and DNS diagnostics.
Enter a domain, hostname, service name, or IP address. Auto mode checks the common record families together, while a specific record type gives you a focused lookup with TTLs and readable record details.

Diagnostics use the inferred DNS zone for nameserver, mail, SPF, DMARC, DNSSEC, and CAA checks. Informational results are not automatically problems.
DNS QUERY NOTE: WhateverTools sends the public DNS name you enter to its server, which resolves it through Google Public DNS using DNS-over-HTTPS. Do not enter passwords, API keys, or other secrets as DNS names.
Use Auto when you are not sure which DNS record you need.
Auto mode checks A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, and CAA records together. It also identifies the likely authoritative DNS provider from nameserver hostnames and checks common email and DNS-security signals.
What the common DNS records are for.
A / AAAA point names to IPv4 or IPv6 addresses. CNAME aliases one hostname to another. MX controls inbound email routing. TXT commonly carries SPF and verification data. NS identifies authoritative nameservers. SOA describes the DNS zone. SRV advertises network services. CAA limits certificate authorities. PTR performs reverse DNS for an IP address.
A missing record is not always an error.
Many record types are optional. A website may not need MX, SPF, DMARC, CAA, or IPv6 records depending on how the domain is used. WhateverTools separates warnings from informational findings so an absent optional record is not presented as a failure by default.
